The Department of Commerce of Saint Lucia (“the Department”) respects your privacy. This notice explains what we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and what choices you have.
Information you give us.
- Contact and enquiry forms. Your name, email address, telephone number and message. We use them to reply and to route your enquiry to the right unit. Each enquiry receives a reference number.
- Online forms. Licence renewals, client intake forms and document requests contain the details the form asks for. They are used only to process your request and are stored privately, not published.
- Event and training registration. Your name, contact details and the answers you give, used to manage attendance.
- Email alerts. Your email address and the topics you choose. Subscriptions need you to confirm by email, and every message has an unsubscribe link.
- Member accounts. Your name, email address and a password (stored only in scrambled form). If you sign in with Google, Facebook or Microsoft, we receive the name and verified email address that provider shares.
- Files you upload. Kept in private storage that is not reachable by a public web address.
Information collected automatically.
The website keeps daily totals of page views, searches and downloads in its own database. These counts do not use cookies, do not record IP addresses or device details, and cannot identify you. Signed-in members receive a session cookie so the site can keep them signed in; it is removed when you sign out or it expires.
Third-party services.
- Live chat (Tawk.to). If you open the chat, the provider processes the messages you send and may set its own cookies.
- Language translation (Google Translate). If you choose a translated language, the page text is sent to Google to be translated.
- Embedded video (YouTube). Playing a video loads content from YouTube, which has its own privacy policy.
- Government services such as digiGov. Links lead to sites run by other bodies with their own privacy practices.
How we use and share information.
We use your information to answer enquiries, deliver the service you asked for, send alerts you subscribed to, and meet legal duties. We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the Department’s units or other government offices that need it to handle your request, or where the law requires.
How long we keep it.
We keep information for as long as needed to deal with your request and meet public-records obligations, then review it for deletion. You can unsubscribe from alerts at any time.
Your choices.
You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent for alerts, by contacting us. Our handling of personal data is guided by the Data Protection Act of Saint Lucia.
