The Department of Commerce wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have built in.
- Reading options button on every page: larger text, higher contrast, a dyslexia-friendly font, more spacing and reduced motion. Your choices are remembered in your browser.
- A “skip to content” link, headings in a logical order, labelled form fields and visible keyboard focus.
- Text alternatives for informative images, and captions or transcripts being added to video as they become available.
- A language menu that translates pages, plus Kwéyòl (Creole) pages that are being introduced.
- Layouts that adapt from phones to large screens.
Known limitations.
- Some text on the home page banner is part of an image and cannot be read by screen readers or translated; the same information appears as text elsewhere on the page.
- The small dots below the home page slideshow are smaller than the recommended touch-target size; arrow controls are provided as well.
- Older PDF and Word documents were produced by other offices and may not be fully accessible. Ask us for an accessible copy.
- Machine translation can be inaccurate.
- Some pages and embedded services from other providers are outside our control.
Tell us about a barrier.
If you cannot use part of this site, or need information in another format such as large print, plain text or an audio copy, please contact us. Describe the page and the problem, and we will reply and aim to resolve it or give you the information another way.
